The Brock Finance & Investment Group (BFIG) is a team of focused students and graduates who actively invest capital in the North American marketplace. If you are interested in having a career in finance or investing then the experiences you will encounter as part of our team will undoubtedly aid you in your job search after graduation! Many of our alumni have made reference to how participating in BFIG helped them get the edge when interviewing for their current roles.

We are currently looking for Sector Analysts to monitor various industries for investment opportunities. No experience is required…only a desire to learn and have fun learning about the finance industry!

Here are some of the activities your executive team is currently planning for this year:

1) Twenty of BFIG's members will take a trip to McMaster University in October to visit the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor. It is equipped with real-time trading software, including 20 Thomson Reuters terminals, as well as 2 Bloomberg stations. Members will have the chance to compete against each other in a practical real-time simulation challenge where each person will have $1,000,000 of play money in their portfolio. This event is a great way for students who are interested in finance to employ their theoretical skills in a practical setting.

2) BFIG has been invited to participate in the inaugural Financial Management Case Competition hosted by the Ryerson University Finance Society. BFIG will be selecting 4 members for the team, who are all in at least their 3rd year of studies, and have a concentration in finance.  This event gives students the chance to apply their knowledge to real problems faced in the financial world. In addition to the competition, the reception will provide participants the opportunity to network with Financial Institutions, guest judges who will be executives from major companies, as well as each other.

3) R.I.S.E. Symposium at the University of Dayton, in Dayton, Ohio. This is the year's crowning event, where 16 BFIG delegates will travel to Dayton , Ohio, to attend the world’s biggest student investment  conference! Networking opportunities are abound and the learning experience is second to none. This is truly one of North America's greatest student conferences, attracting schools from Canada , USA and the rest of the world.
